Turn a Thrift Store Frame into Boho Art

I’m excited to participate in the monthly Thrift Store Challenge again. This time I decided to Turn a Thrift Store Frame into Boho Art using some gorgeous art and fonts I found on The Hungry JPEG. Finding suitable wood frames at thrift stores can be more challenging than you might think. So many of them are plastic or fake wood or so overly ornate that paint can’t fix it. I’ve looked for frames every visit I’ve made this year and only recently found two I liked enough to makeover. The one I use here was very appealing because it didn’t have glass and had a sturdy board to support the art.

Turn a Thrift Store Frame into Boho Art Steps

1. Make sure your frame is clean and free of dirt and dust. If your wood frame has a finish or paint, lightly sand it so the paint will stick.

2. Dry brush a coat of chalk paint onto your frame. Let it dry, paint another coat, and let it dry completely. I love this paint color. It’s like it can’t make up its mind if it’s gray or beige, lol.

3. Scuff up the paint a little so the paint isn’t perfect.

4. Print out the boho art and attach it to a piece of thin cardboard with some adhesive of your choice. I used double-sided tape. You can download and print your own copy of this art by subscribing to our email list over to your right or at the bottom of this post. Plus there are loads of other freebies for you to enjoy, too! Insert the reinforced art piece into the frame.

How easy was that? It’s amazing how a little bit of paint can completely transform simple home decor items like a Thrift Store Frame. A change of paint type and color and this frame wouldn’t even look like the same one. Plus, since you can so easily find printable art on Etsy and on websites like ours, you can really customize so much of your decor to suit your taste. I’ve been working on decorations for a boho wedding and just fell in love with so much of the artwork I felt very inspired to use some. What kind of art would you use?
