Handmade Embossed Mother’s Day Card

I’ve been making handmade cards for years, but once I started making cards on my Cricut Explore Air 2, they seemed to get simpler in design and I cut way down on embellishments. That is completely fine of course, but when I made that Moulin Rouge card a couple of months ago, it reignited my love of making fancy, embellished cards. I’m participating in the Monthly De-stash challenge again this month, so I thought it would be fun to make a Handmade Embossed Mother’s Day Card only using supplies I already have in my craft room. Easy peasy, I have a forest of paper in here and I bought all of these Anna Griffin super fancy die cuts, embossing folders, and stamps months ago that will work perfectly.

Handmade Embossed Mother’s Day Card Steps

Paper Cuts, Stamps & Embossing

1. Choose a color for your card base and cut it to 7″ x 10″. I chose green. Score it at the 5″ mark and fold it in half to make a 5″ x 7″ card. Now emboss the front only with the decorative tiles embossing folder.

2. Cut the floral paper into a 4″ x 5″ piece.

3. Cut two  1/2″ x 5″ pieces from coordinating solid cardstock. I chose the lighter pink. You’ll emboss these with the tufted fabric border embossing strip.

4. Cut two 6.5″ x 2″ pieces from the darker coordinating cardstock. You may need to adjust your sizing depending on the size of your die. Now cut them with the lacy border die. You may need to trim them to make them 5 inches long.

Assembly

1. Glue the lacy border pieces to the top and the bottom of the floral piece. You want the lacy edges to peek out from under the top and the bottom of the floral piece. Center the light pink strips over the top and bottom edges of the floral piece and glue them down.

Okay, so I know these fancy embellished cards take a little more time to make, but I honestly think they’re worth every minute. I know there are plenty of moms out there who would love to get a pretty Handmade Embossed Mother’s Day Card like this. If pink and green aren’t your jam, simply use a different floral paper and coordinating cardstock. Personally, I’ve always been fond of pink and green together. Besides, it’s a nice, springlike card that fits in with the season, too.

  1. And I’ll comment anyways, lol. Because I feel like it today, Marie 🙂 I love this card! But I love the tools you used to make it even more! I really need to see how you use them one day and then I won’t find excuses on why I can’t afford one, anymore…I’ll just make it work, ha!
