Glittered Easter Bunny Decoration

This may come as a shock to some of you, but I did not find this adorable paper mache bunny at Target. I actually found it at Joann’s in their Easter section, on sale of course. I had everything else on hand to make this Glittered Easter Bunny Decoration. I don’t plan to make every single Easter decoration in my house glittered, this is only the second one, lol. You could also paint it with chalk paint and give it a lacy collar with flowers for a shabby chic/ rustic look or you could spray paint it gold or silver for a modern look. You could even just paint it a glossy white and it’d look amazing—you have tons of possibilities.

Instructions

Step 1: Paint the entire bunny with the metallic pink paint. I only used one coat and no base coat. Let it dry completely.

Step 2: In one small section, use the sponge brush to apply Mod Podge to the painted bunny.

Step 3: Hold the bunny over a plate or tray and sprinkle the pink glitter over the Mod Podged area, making sure to cover it as much as possible.

TIP: Do not try to smooth out the glitter or wipe off excess glitter with your finger. It will just wipe all the glitter off the object and stick it to your finger.

Step 4: Tap excess glitter off onto the plate or tray to reuse.

TIP: You will most likely need to reuse fallen glitter. I used a piece of paper underneath to catch most of it, then funneled that glitter back into the container to use again. And again…

Step 5: Repeat steps 2 through 4 until you have covered the entire bunny. I recommend doing it in sections so the Mod Podge doesn’t dry.

Step 6: Mix together approximately 2 tablespoons of Mod Podge and a whole lot of glitter. You’ve already used a bunch, so if you used one of the small containers like I did, just dump the rest into the glue. Use this mixture to first touch up any thin places or spots missing glitter, then use a regular paint brush to cover the entire bunny with the glue/ glitter mixture. Let it dry completely.

Step 7: Cut a 24-inch piece of ribbon. Tie it around the bunny’s neck into a bow, letting the tails hang down.

Glittered Easter Bunny Decoration Step 7

That’s it! You’ll have a beautiful Glittered Easter Bunny Decoration with very little effort. I think it pairs nicely with the Glittered Easter Egg Decoration, but it would also be lovely as a stand alone decoration.

Know this, you will use A LOT of glitter with this project and it will most likely get all over the surrounding area, so plan accordingly.
