Something I Want: Cricut Maker

I already have a Cricut Explore Air 2, so I technically don’t need the Maker, but I really want one because it can cut so many different of types materials. It’s a truly versatile machine.Shop new arrivals from Cricut!

Something I Need: Husqvarna Viking Emerald Sewing Machine

Oh man, do I need a new sewing machine! I’ve had my Lady Kenmore sewing machine for over 20 years, so long they don’t even make them anymore. This machine will do everything I need it to do, plus more, like buttonholes. I know so many people have these really fancy computerized embroidery machines, but that’s not what I need. I need a solid, reliable machine that will last me another 20 years.

Something to Wear: Hot Glue Gun Finger Caps

Seriously, I don’t know how I even have fingerprints left. Sometimes when my phone won’t read my thumbprint, I wonder if there is much of one left, lol! These caps are a genius invention and I need them immediately.

Something to Read: Martha Stewart’s Encyclopedia of Crafts

Okay, to be completely honest, I already have this awesome book. It was on the top of my Christmas list last year and both Aleisha and my husband bought me one, lol! That’s okay, I traded one in for her Encyclopedia of Sewing and Fabric Crafts, which I also love. She is so good at explaining the details of how to do the craft projects and the photos are super helpful. Sometimes it’s just nice to look at a craft book instead of a, um, craft website…

About Marie Dabbs

Hi, I'm Marie. I have been a giant craft nerd for most of my life. I love to experiment with new crafting techniques, even if a few turn out to be epic fails. Over the years and after three kids involved in Scouts and other activities, I discovered my other passion, event planning. I love making my own decorations and styling rooms for parties. I'm at my happiest when I can combine crafts and party styling. It's so much fun!

  1. I already started my holiday shopping because I found some really great deals. My daughter will be 8 next month and she wants DIY kits for arts and crafts and she also wants a bunch of educational books. She has never been much into toys. She enjoys doing arts and crafts in her spare time and wants to be an artist when she grows up. Thanks so much for the chance to win. Money is super tight this year and this would be an absolute blessing!

  2. Most of my Christmas shopping is done after Thanksgiving. I think, for me, it’s mostly about getting in the Christmas spirit first before I can commit to gift shopping. Lol

  3. I don’t do very much Christmas shopping, but I usually start AFTER Thanksgiving 🙂

Thanks for the chance to win!

  4. For the people I know really well and am very close to, I shop all year long because I often find the perfect thing for them when I’m traveling or visiting special towns/stores that I don’t normally go to. For people I don’t know as well or whose taste changes frequently or if I’m buying something that could be the wrong size, color, or style, I wait until the date of my purchase is close enough to Christmas that they will have no problem returning the item if necessary and I make sure to include a gift receipt with the gift.
